Russo-Ukrainian War The  Russo-Ukrainian War  is an ongoing war which began in February 2014 between Russia (together with pro-Russian separatist forces) and Ukraine. Both nations are former members of the now dissolved communist Soviet Union prior to its dissolution in 1991. Various agreements were made when they separated in 1991 and each started transitioning towards market-oriented economies. By 2013, much of Ukraine and it's national parliament wanted closer ties with Western Europe. On the other hand, others including the then-President Viktor Yanukovych and his cabinet, wanted closer ties with Russia. Before the conflict was resolved though, a series of large-scale, mostly peaceful protests began. What we know about the Omicron variant. A new coronavirus or SARS-CoV-2 variant, known as Omicron or B.1.1.529, was first identified by scientists in South Africa on November 24. The latest variant of the virus that causes the COVID-19 disease is believed to be more transmissible than the already highly transmissible Delta variant. Omicron has already been detected in 106 countries. Dr Angelique Coetzee, the South African doctor who first alerted authorities to the presence of the new COVID-19 variant, has said muscle aches, fatigue, a scratchy throat and night sweats are common Omicron symptoms.
